Underbody Charger

With the Underbody Charger Schunk is presenting a prototype of the e-charging station of the future, which will allow the safe, efficient, comfortable and autonomous recharging of various vehicle types within a few minutes. This will be possible by a retractable recharging system located in the driveway and, the docking module built in the vehicle underbody as well as extremely high power transfer. Hence, automatic recharging can be shortened to a few minutes, even in completely depleted batteries, which allows for easy integration into the everyday use of vehicles.   You benefit from these advantages:  A breakthrough efficient and convenient charging experience Fully automated vehicle charging within a few minutes High parking tolerance Vehicle positioning and recognition system Suited for private and public use

Roof Mounted Pantograph

The compact pantographs are mounted on the roof of the E-bus or battery-powered industrial vehicle and function according to the bus-up principle: The vehicle stops under the charging station where the roof charging pantograph extends, connects to the charging station and charges the batteries. Charging can take place both in the depot and during operation at a charging station within the route network - without any delay to regular driving operations. This is guaranteed by the extremely fast contacting and the very high current transmission. Our patented contact systems can be adapted to a variety of vehicles and specific customer requirements. You benefit from these advantages:> SLS 102: Precisely designed to meet customer requirements for power transmission and availability; contacting in only four seconds or < 1 second if required > SLS 103: A technological milestone that sets previously unattained standards; charging electric vehicles of various heights up to double-decker buses in seconds - with a single charging current collector and very high performance > Integration on the battery-powered vehicle - contacting with charging infrastructure according to the bus-up principle > Multipole concept (minimum 4 poles) and contact sequence for safe charging > Precise compensation of parking deviations and kneeling effects during the loading process

Grounding Systems for Railroad Applications

Ground contacts for all installation situations[https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/grounding-system](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/grounding-system)Maximize the service life of your wheelset groundingOnly with a perfectly matched grounding system are return, safety and signal currents safely and reliably discharged. Grounding systems must work reliably for the longest possible period. These grounding systems or grounding contacts are mounted either at the end of the axis (axial) or at the gear unit (radial). At Schunk, such solutions have been established for years and are part of a large repertoire. Therefore, it is no coincidence that leading vehicle manufacturers in the rail/traction sector rely on grounding systems from Schunk - because with our technology, we have revolutionized the transmission of signal currents and ensured new dimensions in maintenance intervals.

3rd Rail Current Collector with Fuse Box

This task is performed by fuses that find their place in our standardized, weatherproof fuse box made of approved material suitable for railroad applications. Here they are protected from mechanical stresses such as shocks and vibrations and perform their task reliably. Our fuse boxes can accommodate various fuse sizes and designs - fuses can be changed without the need to disconnect cables. Optional indicator switches provide a visual or electrical indication when a fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. As a separate subsystem, the fuse box can also be mounted to the bogie independently of the current collector - we also offer both as a compact unit. The cable routing will be solved according to the customer's requirements. You benefit from these advantages: > Standardized fuse box in weatherproof housing > Material suitable for railroad use with all necessary approvals, e.g. Fire & Smoke > Various fuse sizes and designs can be accommodated > Reliable protection of the fuse against mechanical stress > Simple fuse replacement > Optional indicator switch to show when a change is necessary > Customized cable routing possible

Radial Grounding System

Continuous return currents can cause serious damage to critical components such as the wheelset roller bearing. Our grounding contacts provide a reliable remedy here by reliably diverting the currents via clear current paths. With our Polyrad grounding contact for mounting on the gearbox, you can rely on extremely long service lives combined with maximum functional reliability. Whether all-carbon grounding contacts with optimum emergency running properties for currentless operation or systems for the highest current densities - all variants are characterized by great material know-how and the possibility of an individual solution that exactly matches the requirement. Our carbon brushes for grounding contacts are of course also available separately as spare parts.

Turn the Third Rail into your Road to Success!

[https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/third-rail](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/third-rail)Maintenance-friendly 3rd rail current collectors from Schunk are in use around the world. We offer optimal solutions to our customers for every speed range and every operating voltage. Even if the spacing between rail and bogie fluctuates, our developments guarantee perfect current transmission – thanks to their modular design and trailblazing technology. Our current collector modules include spring-operated systems and pneumatically operated systems – depending on our customers’ requirements and vehicle equipment. Depending on the model, they can be mounted on the bogie or on the end of the axle.

This is exactly what our patented Carbon Fiber Grounding (CFG) systems protect against. The carbon fiber shaft grounding systems reliably dissipate interference currents, protect against damage and increase the service life of the vehicle fleet. Our transmission-side CFG systems can be tailored to any transmission or engine and mounted on the existing interface with little effort. You benefit from these advantages:> Patented systems for perfect grounding > Reliable protection against expensive damage and unplanned downtime > Resistant to strong vibrations > Easy assembly and disassembly > Customized design > Tolerance compensation of the axle clearance

Depot Charger

[https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/depot-charger~p6404](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/depot-charger~p6404)Schunk's latest automatic charging device enables vehicles of different heights to be docked in the depot in seconds. In addition, overnight charging in the depot has the advantage that there is no need for fast and large amounts of electricity to flow along the track in the shortest possible time. The devices can also be made simpler, lighter and more compact - and are therefore particularly economical.Depot charging with automated charging device has a whole range of advantages:> The vehicles can park under the system with some tolerance. An automatic signal provides the connection to the charging device. Compared to the plug-in solution, no additional personnel is required. > The charging process is implemented using the top-down principle. The charging device contacts the counterpart station on the vehicle side. The buses can park close together, so that less parking space is required. > The Depot Charger offers an efficient overnight charging alternative. Depending on the charging cycles, the systems have a service life of ten to fifteen years, making them significantly more durable than plug-in solutions.

Ice Scraper Carbon Strip

Ice on the contact wire is a problem for operational safety in winter, as it acts as an insulator and prevents safe power transmission. In addition, the rough ice can damage "normal" carbon contact strips, making their replacement necessary much sooner than usual.  Our ice scraper contact strip is the ideal additional solution to further improve operation in adverse winter conditions. It can be mounted on a reusable aluminum carrier, which can also be equipped with a heating element. After an extensive series of tests, we develop the contact strip according to the customer's individual requirements - for example, a scratch strip made of brass or copper can be integrated.
