Schunk OnTrack Monitoring

The safety and efficiency of rail infrastructure and vehicles also depends on the condition of overhead lines and pantographs. But too often, data is lacking quality and quantity needed to derive predictive measures that increase safety and reduce downtime. As a renowned development partner for power transmission technologies for rail systems, we use the [Schunk OnTrack Monitoring](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/innovations/ontrack-monitoring) process solution to upgrade our in-house power transmission systems and make them smart. In this way, we manage to reliably collect as much data as possible in order to use it beneficially.

Welcome to Schunk Transit Systems

[Schunk Transit Systems](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/company/about) is one of the world's leading suppliers in the field of reliable power transmission technologies - from rail transport to efficient charging of electric buses. Our products and system solutions set new international standards and push the boundaries of what is possible time and again - benefit from our decades of experience and use our know-how as a development partner.

Grounding Systems

Only with a perfectly matched [grounding system](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/grounding-system) are return, safety and signal currents safely and reliably discharged. Grounding systems must work reliably for the longest possible period. These grounding systems or grounding contacts are mounted either at the end of the axis (axial) or at the gear unit (radial). At Schunk, such solutions have been established for years and are part of a large repertoire. Therefore, it is no coincidence that leading vehicle manufacturers in the rail/traction sector rely on grounding systems from Schunk - because with our technology, we have revolutionized the transmission of signal currents and ensured new dimensions in maintenance intervals.

Underbody Charger

With the [Underbody Charger](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/underbody-charger~p6417) Schunk is presenting a prototype of the e-charging station of the future, which will allow the safe, efficient, comfortable and autonomous recharging of various vehicle types within a few minutes. This will be possible by a retractable recharging system located in the driveway and, the docking module built in the vehicle underbody as well as extremely high power transfer. Hence, automatic recharging can be shortened to a few minutes, even in completely depleted batteries, which allows for easy integration into the everyday use of vehicles.

Roof-mounted Pantograph

The advantages of our SLS 103 and SLS 102 [roof-mounted pantographs](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/roof-mounted-pantograph~p6384) have already proven themselves in many projects all over the world. The compact pantographs are mounted on the roof of the E-bus or battery-powered industrial vehicle and function according to the bus-up principle: The vehicle stops under the charging station where the roof charging pantograph extends, connects to the charging station and charges the batteries. Charging can take place both in the depot and during operation at a charging station within the route network - without any delay to regular driving operations. This is guaranteed by the extremely fast contacting and the very high current transmission. Our patented contact systems can be adapted to a variety of vehicles and specific customer requirements.

3rd Rail Current Collector with Fuse Box

Whether metro, subway or monorail vehicle - the sensitive vehicle technology and connecting cables must be protected against electrical faults. This task is performed by fuses that find their place in our standardized, weatherproof [fuse box ](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/3rd-rail-current-collector-with-fuse-box~p6373)made of approved material suitable for railroad applications. Here they are protected from mechanical stresses such as shocks and vibrations and perform their task reliably. Our fuse boxes can accommodate various fuse sizes and designs - fuses can be changed without the need to disconnect cables. Optional indicator switches provide a visual or electrical indication when a fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. As a separate subsystem, the fuse box can also be mounted to the bogie independently of the current collector - we also offer both as a compact unit. The cable routing will be solved according to the customer's requirements.

Axial Grounding System (Externally Mounted)

Continuous return currents can cause serious damage to critical components such as the wheelset roller bearing. Our grounding contacts provide a reliable remedy here by reliably diverting the currents via clear current paths. With our [Polyax grounding contact](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/axial-grounding-system-externally-mounted~p6359) for externally mounted bogie applications, you can rely on extremely long service lives combined with maximum functional reliability. Whether all-carbon grounding contacts with optimum emergency running properties for de-energized operation or systems for the highest current densities - all variants are characterized by great material know-how and the possibility of an individual solution that exactly matches the requirement. Our carbon brushes for grounding contacts are of course also available separately as spare parts.

Railway Aftermarket

From maintenance to repair, retrofitting and replacement of wear parts – our [railway aftermarket](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/aftermarket) department offers a variety of products, components and services for your Schunk solutions. Gear/Gearbox-mounted CFG Systems

Vagrant shaft currents in inverter-controlled AC motors can cause bearing and gearbox damage, which in turn can lead to increased noise and heat generation and ultimately force a costly shutdown. This is exactly what our patented [Carbon Fiber Grounding (CFG)](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/geargearbox-mounted-cfg-systems~p6369) systems protect against. The carbon fiber shaft grounding systems reliably dissipate interference currents, protect against damage and increase the service life of the vehicle fleet. Our transmission-side CFG systems can be tailored to any transmission or engine and mounted on the existing interface with little effort.

Depot Charger

[Schunk's latest automatic charging device](https://www.schunk-group.com/transit-systems/en/products/detail/depot-charger~p6404) enables vehicles of different heights to be docked in the depot in seconds. In addition, overnight charging in the depot has the advantage that there is no need for fast and large amounts of electricity to flow along the track in the shortest possible time. The devices can also be made simpler, lighter and more compact - and are therefore particularly economical.
